SHIP DOWN TV #2

Hello again, I hope you're all doing well. Today I bring you this week's update of changes for:

SHIP DOWN TV It's an unconventional space shooter game with a hand-drawn animation style [Poorly drawn on purpose, because I'm bad at drawing :)]. The character will react in real time to what's happening, and everything is made from scratch.

Here are this week's progress updates: 1)

New Slot System: Let me introduce the new slot system! I realized I enjoy chaos, but I noticed something contradictory — my game was way too calm and relaxed. You could see that in the previous devlog, where the gameplay video I uploaded showed a very chill experience. So I came up with something fun. Why not throw in some overpowered enemies and mechanics? Well… the answer is, that would be super unfair to the player. So then I thought… why not make the player overpowered instead? ... DAMN HARRY, YOU’RE A GENIUS! The slot system simply lets you shoot as if you had 3 ships in one, each with a different type of weapon that you get to choose — and let me tell you, I’ve discovered some really interesting synergies.

I think it’s a really fun mechanic to experiment with and mix ideas — it opens the door to weapon designs that allow for crazy, even broken combinations. I want ShipDown TV players to feel overpowered… but also for the game to be able to shatter that illusion at any moment. Kind of like what happens in Balatro when you’ve built a great synergy, but then the next blind crushes your whole strategy.

 2) Visual Changes, New Art & Music: I’ve added new animations to Shiper when using the “Snake” and “frasco_dash”. With each update, I hope these animations become more creative — I’ll do my best not to disappoint you! I’m also planning to add new art for Shoper, new weapons, new enemy animations, new enemies, and lots of ideas related to the graphic/art side of the project (a true nightmare if you ask me :) ). Now, about the music… let me be clear: I’m not a musician. I know nothing about music. I don’t even listen to music, so don’t expect a Toby Fox or a Nintendo soundtrack here. It’s going to be really bad. Painfully bad, even. But still, I’m putting it in the game anyway — I’ll try not to make your ears bleed. This week I added a new track for action moments. Its name is: Marquesote.mp3 ... As you can see, I’m also terrible at naming things.
